National Hockey League
The ice is melting and what better time to discuss the work Cushing fulfilled for the NHL. No, you didn’t just get hit by a Zamboni: A Google search got the phone ringing and a couple of months later, final touches came together on a Stanley Cup Final arena signage plan.
Portfolio Details
Client: National Hockey LeagueA bevy of Blackhawk fans are on the Cushing production floor; many who would gladly sit in the penalty box for a game ticket. However, this relationship goes beyond fan adoration and one project. It’s a hat trick of quick turns, logistics and wayfinding directional signage.
Vince Granieri is a recent graduate of Temple University and NHL Events Coordinator.
“Cushing handled last minute requests flawlessly. Julia stayed in the office late many days that week to ensure the job got done right.”
What do you with 200,000 square feet of the Greater Columbus Convention Center? Transform it into a hockey fan’s dream, of course! NHL Fan Fair is the official fan festival of the 2015 NHL All-Star Weekend. Offering three days of family-friendly interactive games, attractions, special player appearances and trophy displays – it’s a league signature event with activities for everyone.
Hold on, how did we not get a ticket?
In all seriousness, the celebration requires planning, coordination and numerous graphics. 22” x 28” to 42” x 30” inch signs to printed decals, it made sense for the NHL to keep working with Cushing. So we decided to build a brick and mortar location in downtown Columbus for a home ice advantage, right? Not exactly.
Enter the RMX Network, a professional network of printing companies which essentially expands your project reach throughout the United States (and globally).
As Granieri says, “once the proofing process is complete, it’s in the hands of the printers.” No matter if they are in Chicago, Columbus or San Diego, projects are more than selecting substrates and requesting print ready files. Graphics are double and triple checked. Behind the scenes, an account representative works the phone to keep logistics under control and projects in the workflow.
Meet your Cushing creative team.
TEAMWORK
The production team, local and through the RMX Network, is anticipating last minute edits and how unseen challenges can be prevented.
“Cushing handled last minute requests flawlessly,” says Granieri. “Julia and the Cushing team stayed in the office late many days to ensure the job got done right.”
The partner printer in another city? Their goal is completing the project without issues and hitting deadlines.
In every instance, the team is looking to enhance a customer experience. For instance, with a large volume of wayfinding to be placed, each sign was labeled with numbers and descriptions. A small update? Perhaps.
This detail made the difference and helped staff setting up at the convention center.
This labeling addition is being considered for all future NHL printed projects.
NHL Fan Fair? A rousing success, providing more than 33,500 happy hockey fans with an unforgettable experience over the course of the weekend. Directional signage kept fans on the right path and all deadlines were met. Both teams are excited for the next project opportunity, no matter the city!
