WHY CHOOSE CUSHING FOR CANVAS PRINTING?
When it comes to canvas printing, we look beyond stretched materials and ink to see your bigger picture. It’s:
- Your opportunity to land a new client
- A chance to showcase your work in a gallery
- Your creative masterpiece with Chicagoland (and the world!)
“Gallery wrapped” refers to the way canvas is stretched over 1-1/2″ inch to 2″ inch wooden frame supports. Wrapped edges can be finished with a selected colored border or a continuation of the primary image.
HOW LONG DOES CANVAS LAST?
Once printed, canvas must be protected to maintain image quality and ensure longevity of your print. Cushing offers a variety of protective coatings for canvas printing including gloss and satin finishes. The production staff member assigned to your fine art printing project hand applies it.
Why Do we Apply By Hand?
This provides a textural coating, like the fine touch of an experienced painter, as opposed to the uniform plasticity of a factory finish. It also provides additional UV protection to your print. We want you to be ecstatic with the end result of your canvas print.

FINISHING
Our finishes are eco-friendly, with no VOC (volatile organic compounds) off-gassing, and serve as a protective barrier to harmful UV light.
All stretcher bars are made to order from renewable resource hardwood. Cross bracing is provided every 36″ and corners are braced on larger prints to maximize stability.
ADDITIONAL CANVAS FINISHING OPTIONSHIP
You can also have your image printed to canvas and left flat. This provides a more affordable alternative to gallery wrapping without sacrificing quality. Your print would still be coated for protection, and could then be matted for framing in a standard flat frame. With any fine art printing, Cushing will work with you to ensure that the finished piece fits your vision.
