Finishing Operator
Job Summary:
This operator is responsible for the careful operation of equipment to meet the production needs of Cushing customers. This requires careful reading of orders, understanding the safe operation of equipment, and time management of order deadlines. In addition, the operator must have a thorough knowledge of material specs and application, troubleshooting technical issues, and a commitment to quality control. Operator also shows a thorough knowledge of the company’s other production areas and a general grasp of the printing industry. Ability to master teamwork with a positive attitude is required.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Communicate with Production Manager and Signage Fabrication & Logistics Manager about best methods to complete in-house orders by best using various company resources, i.e. mounting, laminating, and printing techniques, etc.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, demonstrates patience and maturity in times of high stress.
- Operate printers, cutters, and other finishing equipment per job specifications.
- Basic understanding of and ability to apply additional hardware to a job per job specifications.
- Perform routine maintenance on all equipment.
- Fully understand the written work order as well as the production operating system and how to make adjustments and notes; seek out updated information from CushIQ for most accurate production.
- Consistently check for quality and accuracy of jobs. Responsible for final QC of completed projects and shipping.
- Ensure proper packaging procedures are met and followed with a clear understanding of shipping and courier protection requirements. Ensure destination of a job is accurate and sent to the correct location per job specifications.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment and positive attitude.
- Work with team members to facilitate successful completion of graphics for installations; ability to read and understand shared calendars and help resolve scheduling conflicts; ability to assist install team off site when needed.
- Ensure hard copy samples have proper documentation and are sent to the appropriate party at the correct location.
- Additional responsibilities as assigned by Lead Finisher, Production Manager and Signage Fabrication & Logistics Manager.
Job Qualifications
- High School diploma required, experience with printing graphics preferred.
- Computer skills to use basic office software, e-mail, internet, as well as knowledge of rip software and equipment management.
- Ability to work as part of a team and independently. Demonstrate patience and maturity under times of high stress.
- Experience using CNC router and/or laser cutter strongly preferred.
- Technical knowledge of printing equipment and processes, with demonstrated ability to perform maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Meticulous attention to detail, with the ability to identify and correct quality issues and recognize disparities in color.
- Ability to lift and move heavy materials (up to 50 lbs.), stand for long periods of time while operating machinery, and work in a hot and noisy environment.
- Capability to operate power tools safely and efficiently. Ability to use hand tools effectively for fabrication and assembly.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
